“Tziporah is a combination of entertainer, genius, artist, archetypal Magician, a flash of Pierrot, 1920’s glamour, with Asian flair, timeless beauty and the energy and fun of a Hummingbird…”
A designer, raconteur, author, model, and legendary New York style icon-about-town, Tziporah is a favorite subject of such acclaimed photographers and artists as The New York Times late, great Bill Cunningham, Ike’ Ude’, and Ari Seth Cohen. She elevates the act of dressing to an art form and whether styling herself or others, her creations are beautiful, harmonious and always original.
The irrepressible voice and champion of women who dare to dress, “Tzippy” has spent a lifetime collecting remarkable antique clothes, hats and accessories, assembling them into into ecstatic sui generis outfits she shares with the world from the seat of her pink Shinola bicycle and turquoise Bianchi bike. She’s modeled for Lanvin, Australian Vogue, TJ Maxx, Lulu Frost, Michael Hill; New York Magazine, Avenue, Collectors on Collecting, Emirates’ Woman, the LA Times, T magazine, The San Francisco Chronicle, Zoomer, Buffalo Today, M&V Magazine, Hadassah Magazine and the New York Times have featured her story and astonishing creations.
Ms. Salamon’s parents, both Hungarian Jews, survived the Holocaust and fled to Israel, where Tzippy was born. The family later immigrated to New York City, where her father worked as a master tailor and her mother as a skilled dressmaker. Tziporah found her way into many aspects of the fashion and style industry, and today, when asked about her career, invariably replies, “I dress.”
Her live entertainment projects include The Art of Dressing, an intimate two hour seminar featured in New York Magazine and LA Times; Tzippt’s Tales, a chronological journey of one woman’s style over the decades; and The Fabric of My Life, a sartorial autobiography, a scripted one-woman show. Her book, The Art of Dressing, published by Rizzoli is available in bookstores and Amazon. Tziporah is one of the leads in the documentary Advanced Style.
